The first beta build of Ubuntu 18.04 has been released. The codename for this version of Ubuntu is "Bionic Beaver". Any users upgrading from a previous LTS release are in for an exciting update.
The flavors that are opting in to take part in the Bionic Beaver beta testing are:
- Ubuntu Budgie
- Ubuntu Kylin

No matter which flavor you decide to go with for the beta or even for future updates, you will be receiving the same core benefits that come with the regular Ubuntu 18.04 release.
This flavor of the beta has a new sound apple and status notifier plugin, both which are improvements over the applets they are replacing.
There is also a small set of MATE desktop apps that are included:
- Evince is replaced with Atril
- File Roller is replaced with Engrampa
- GNOME Calculator is replaced with MATE Calculator
