The road to rooting the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL has not been as well-mapped as well all thought it would be. A mixture of annoying bugs that prevent bootloader unlocking and a current lack of custom ROM and root modification support on Android Oreo, along with the [hardware problems] everyone has been complaining about have led to the Pixel 2 receiving a lukewarm reception from the developer community. However, thanks to unified root tool SkipSoft, bootloader unlocking and rooting your Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL should be easier than ever.
For those of you who are unaware, SkipSoft, by developer mskip over on the XDA Developer Forums, is a unified Android toolkit for Nexus, Pixel, Samsung and OnePlus devices that has the ability to do things like gain root access, backup and store applications, download stock images and much more.
Another useful feature is that drivers for your device can be installed directly from the toolkit, saving you a lot of time and a great deal of hassle during the rooting process. However, it is worth noting that you will need to have ADB and Fastboot tools set up on your computer beforehand when you wish to begin tinkering with SkipSoft. What do you guys think? Will you use this tool to unlock your Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL's bootloader, and to install tweaks? Let us know in the comments, or post over in the forums with your thoughts.
