There's no use pretending that OnePlus is the most prompt company as far as Android updates are concerned; they flat-out left the poor OnePlus 2 out in the cold, without the promised update to Android 7.0 Nougat. However, OnePlus have been pushing to fix this image with their Android updates; they recently started pushing out an Android Oreo open beta for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. And now, they're following suit with their first 2017 flagship; the OnePlus 5 will be getting Android Oreo open beta builds by the end of this month.
The announcement, made by OnePlus at their OnePlus 5T launch event, stated that they'd be rolling out these first builds within the month of November, with the official OTA update for all OnePlus 5's expected to launch in "early 2018"; whatever that may mean. They have at least given a sense of timescale for the official launch of Android Oreo for the OnePlus 5. And while they may lack a similar timescale for Oreo on the OnePlus 5T, we're sure that at this rate of success, OnePlus won't leave the owners of its latest flagship killer hanging for too long.
What do you guys think of these developments? Are you expecting OnePlus to start delivering promptly with regards to updates, or go back to their old ways despite all these promises? Let us know what you think in the comments, or be sure to post over in the forums with your thoughts.
