Did you play Pokemon Go everyday? You'll be in for a treat, as Niantic are working on their next mobile AR game, based off of the hit Harry Potter franchise.

Niantic has announced Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, a mobile AR game based in the Harry Potter universe, that will be coming to Android and iOS soon. The company, who capitalized off of the massive success of Pokemon Go last year (it was and remains the most downloaded mobile game ever), are seeking to reclaim their stake in the AR gaming world by leveraging the successes of yet another much-loved franchise.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will allow users to engage with and battle magical creatures, cast spells, join up with friends and much more. The press release that Niantic released gives more detail on the matter:

"Players will learn spells, explore their real-world neighborhoods and cities to discover & fight legendary beasts and team up with others to take down powerful enemies. We're thrilled to partner with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and WB Games San Francisco's development team to bring this magical and beloved series to life in a brand new way. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will leverage the full stack of the Niantic Platform while also providing an opportunity to pioneer all new technology and gameplay mechanics."

There is no word currently on a tentative release timescale for this game; however, we can anticipate that it will be fairly soon, based off of this initial announcement. Needless, this is plenty of reason for die-hard Harry Potter fans to get excited. Niantic received plenty of criticism regarding Pokemon Go, some of its promised features that Niantic never delivered and poor customer service; and we hope that this time around Niantic will be able to resolve these issues and release a product we can all look forward to enjoying.

What do you guys think? Are you a Harry Potter fan? Are you excited to see what Niantic can do with this franchise's name? LEt us know in the comments, or post over in the forums with your thoughts.
