Home Depot is a jailbreak released by jk9357 for iOS 9 devices. It brings an easy, sideloadable .IPA file which easily jailbreak your device by using Cydia Impactor.
The famous developer, tihmstar wants to take the project a step further by allowing users to jailbreak their devices using only a website. This is very similar to what we've seen with JailbreakMe and JailbreakMe9 in the past and users tend to love these forms of jailbreaks thanks to their easy procedure and execution.
tihmstar has demoed the jailbreak on his private YouTube channel where he demonstrates that it is indeed fully working as expected:
The initial idea was to not release the jailbreak due to fear of bypassing iCloud activation lock, which would be awful for stolen devices. It would mean that stolen devices running iOS 9 would be easily cracked and thieves could sell them or use them themselves.
Thankfully this issue has been resolved and thimstar plans on releasing the jailbreak after all, after recent information surfaced:
So i've been told that there is no JIT in captive portals, which means my exploit can't be used to bypass icloud lock.— tihmstar (@tihmstar) December 6, 2017
Which means jailbreakme 4.0 could actually become a thing…
This may not be the news you're hoping for, as most people running iOS 9 already do have jailbroken devices, however, keep in mind that this is still great news. This not only shows that we have active developers who are eager to jailbreak devices but that iOS 9 users no longer need to use Ext3nder or other tools in order to resign the jailbreak tools as they can simply visit the website.
What are you thoughts on this? Do you onw an iOS 9 device which could find use for this jailbreak? Let us know in the comments below.
