A compromise that users often have to make with icon packs is choice. Maybe your favorite icon pack doesn't have an icon for a particular app that's essential to your daily use pattern, or perhaps you like the way 2 distinct design schemes work and blend together. Or maybe you just want to mix things up a bit. If any of those apply to you, then the app of your dreams just turned up on the Play Store, courtesy of Damian Piwowarski, the developer behind the popular icon design manipulator adapticons; and it's called Icon Pack Mixer.

Icon Pack Mixer is...well, it's exactly what it says on the tin. It allows users to mix and match individual icons from to their liking to create the perfect set of icons, even if your launcher of choice doesn't support using a different icon pack for a specific app. While it isn't 100% compatible with all Android icon packs, it seems to work perfectly and seamlessly with popular offerings such as ClickUI, Kecil and Lines. It allows non-rooted users to take a giant leap in getting their phones looking exactly how they'd like them to.

The workflow is straightforward; after starting the app and allowing it to read and catalogue all your icon packs, just select the icons you want for each app, confirm the selection, and wait as it generates a custom package based on the icons you selected. Additionally, it integrates seamlessly with adapticons, allowing you to use your own custom icons from adapticons in your icon pack. There are limitations, however; the ability to set a default base icon pack, mix more than 100 icons or save icons as .png files are both kept behind a $1 paywall that also removes ads from the app. If you're a hardcore customisation junkie, you might just want to cough up the dollar, but we'd image everyone else would be just fine buying some candy with that money. What do you guys think? Do you see a lot of use in mixing and matching icon packs? Is this the customisation app you've been waiting for? Let us know in the comments, or post over in the forums with your thoughts.
