It's time for an iOS beta again! The iOS 11.1 Developer Beta 2 has been released and here is what's new.
Soon after the iOS 11 beta was released to the general public, Apple started the iOS 11.1 beta, for registered developers. It didn't include any noteworthy changes that time, however, we have a pretty nice changelog this time, which may make a lot of users happy!
The unofficial changelog includes:
- New Unicode 10 emoji characters
- Reachability bug fixed on Home screen
- Emergency SOS Preferences tweaked
- 3D Touch Multitasking returns!
The biggest two changes are the new emojis and the comeback of 3D Touch multitasking. The new emojis have been updated to Unicode 10, which includes hundreds of new ways to express yourself using 2D faces on the screen. Some of the emojis include a crazy face, pie, pretzel, t-rex, vampire, exploding head, face vomiting, shushing face, brain, scarf, zebra, giraffe, fortune cookie, pie, hedgehog, person in steamy room, mage, fairy, merperson, elf, genie, and person climbing. There is way more, but nobody wants to read that.
The 3D Touch Multitasking is not a new feature, but a comeback of a new one. If you remember how you could force touch the edge of your screen to switch apps in iOS 10, then you're familiar with this feature as it's the same thing. The feature was removed in iOS 11 due to preparations for the iPhone X's gestures, however, just as promised, it is back in this update.
There are possibly more changes in this build of iOS, however, we cannot list them all because Apple doesn't provide official changelogs for their beta OSes, aside from things like "minor text fixes". Make sure to let us know at [email protected] in case you find anything new!
