If you are in need of editing the hosts file on your iOS device, for various reasons, we'll show you how to do exactly that if you're jailbroken.

There are many different reasons to why you would want to edit your hosts file on iOS. I need to do it because the company I work for, Mobile Nations, requires a VPN combined with a custom hosts file in order to access the admin panel on their websites, including ModMy. We'll show you how to do it the easiest way!

Editing the hosts file

First of all, you need a file browser on your iOS device (and you need to be jailbroken. duh). We recommend Filza, which can be downloaded from the bottom of the article, however, other file browsers like iFile will work as well. The steps may vary, however. One you've successfully installed Filza, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to /etc/ on your device

  2. Scroll down until you see the file names hosts and open it using the Text Editor.

  1. Add the hosts you need and hit "Save" in the top right corner.

You're done! You've successfully modified your hosts file. Do note that you might need to perform a reboot in order to see the effects of the modification. We also strongly recommend making a backup of the file in case something goes wrong (friendly reminder: we are not responsible for any damage).

On that note, you can download Filza for free from the link below:
