If you've been patiently waiting to jailbreak your daily iPhone running iOS 10.3.X then you'll be disappointed. The famous developer, tihmstar, has released a jailbreak for these iOS versions, but only for older devices with a 32bit CPU. This includes the iPhone 5, 5C and the 4S, among the more popular ones, as well as 32bit iPads and iPods.
The news broke out yesterday, on Christmas eve, and was definitely a welcome surprise for people who'd like to jailbreak the older devices they might own. While the jailbreak has only been tested on the iPhone5,2 (The iPhone 5), it should, in theory, work on all 32-bit devices, as advertised by the official h3lix website.
The website provides instructions on how to install the jailbreak, but with a comical spin, including some jokes and very informal language:
- Get the IPA.
- Take a shower.
- Prepare offerings.
- Provide your Apple ID, Mother's Maiden Name, and SSN.
- Do some stuff with Cydia Impactor.
- Presse the only button in the app.
- Wait until it's done.
What this means is essential that you need to sideload the provided .IPA with Cydia Impactor, which is a fairly simple task.
While this isn't the news many have been hoping for, it's still very welcome by many as iOS 10.3.3 is the last iOS version supported on many devices. A jailbreak for iOS 11.1.X is just around the corner, and we might as well see a new jailbreak for 64bit devices running iOS 10, which leaves us hopeful for a wider compatibility list in the near future.
