Smartphones have come and gone over the years, but most, if not all of them have had one thing in common: only one screen for viewing content. The dual-screen ZTE Axon M, which we covered at launch, is a new phone coming exclusively to AT&T this holiday season that breaks away from this singular tradition.
The ZTE Axon M is equipped with dual 1080P displays, a Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 64GB hard drive and a 20MP sensor that functions as both a front and rear-facing camera. The device will ship running Android Nougat.
With "Dual Mode," the presence of two displays will allow football fans to watch the game, and edit their fantasy lineup at the same time or watch a movie and text with a friend simultaneously. There's also a feature called "Mirror Mode" that allows users to display identical content on both screens. The phone can then be positioned on a table where people sitting on opposite sides can watch a movie, TV show, etc. However, users are not restricted to using both screens at all times. The device can be folded up and used like a standard smartphone.
It's anyone's guess whether having two displays on a phone is practical, but if interested, you can find the device at your local AT&T store on November 17th. Pricing for the Axon M starts at $24.17/month for 30 months on the AT&T Next installment plan, or at full price for $724.99.
