BioWare's 2002 cult-classic returns with the release of Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition on March 27, 2018, for macOS, Windows and Linux.
Developed by Beamdog, this Enhanced Edition includes the original campaign as well as two expansion packs. 18 years later, you'll be able to once again become rogue, a sorcerer or a paladin and journey through a monster-filled world in search of the cure that could save the city of Neverwinter.
Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition also includes brand-new features and improvements, such as an improved display supporting 1080p and 4K, advanced graphics options, backwards compatibility with the original Neverwinter Nights and more. Three premium modules, the Aurora Toolset allowing you to build your own world (Windows only for now), and a Dungeon Master mode are also available for purchase.
Beamdog had a lot of success remastering Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, but the fact Neverwinter Nights was structured in modules following the Dungeons & Dragons style, this was a particularly challenging project. According to Jonathan Hill, Beamdog's Project Lead:
Neverwinter Nights has been a beloved game for the past 15 years, with Beamdog's ongoing development and community support we hope the Enhanced Edition will be loved for 15+ more years.
As can be expected from a remaster of an older game, graphics are much improved but requirements remain low and accessible to most.
These are the game's minimum system requirements:
|Operating System||Mac OS X 10.9 or Ubuntu 12.04|
|CPU||Dual Core Processor|
|Memory||1 GB RAM|
|Graphics||OpenGL 3.0 compatible|
|Storage||10 GB available space|
You can find the game on Steam for $20. There's also a Digital Deluxe Edition including everything from the standard edition, all new DLCs, and the game's official soundtrack for $40.
